Precast concrete

Topforce: What does Fibre reinforced concrete offer?
Topforce fibre reinforced concrete offers a faster build technique enabling contractors to handover sites more quickly. It improves site safety by removing trip hazards when handling steel fabric. There are also no need for steel fabric deliveries to site, cranes are not required and there is no manual handling involved. With the addition of macro fibres you can be assured the reinforcement is distributed evenly throughout the mix thus making it more effective in reducing the risk of plastic and drying shrinkage cracking.

Topforce reinforces the full depth of concrete slabs, the millions of macro synthetic fibres in every cubic metre of Topforce literally stitch the concrete together in all directions. This is why Topforce can be designed to replace conventional crack-control steel wire fabric (A142, A193, A252 and A393). Topforce also exhibits less wear and greater tolerance to impact compared to conventional concrete thus reducing whole life costs.
What are Macro Fibres?
Macro Fibre Reinforcement is a unique form of high strength, high modulus synthetic structural reinforcement that is distributed throughout the concrete matrix. Macro fibres give toughness, impact and fatigue resistance to concrete. It consists of synthetic fibres that have specifically been designed to replace welded wire fabric, light reinforcing bars and steel fibres in flooring.
Carbon Dioxide and Steel Prices
Based on a study by ne of the UK's leading environmental consultancies, ENVIROS, macro-synthetic fibres are proven to have at least a 70% lower carbon footprint (per unit area of concrete) when compared to crack-control steel wire fabric and steel fibres.
Global steel prices have risen by 40 per cent this year. Steel production costs have more than doubled with the price of key steelmaking ingredients, such as coking coal and iron ore having jumped 200 per cent and 65 per cent respectively, as a result of this the price of steel fabric has rocketed, lead times have increased for orders.
Tarmac Topforce delivery times will be favourable when the comparing to steel equivalents helping you to get the material to your site quicker.
Benefits of Fibre Reinforced Concrete
Topforce removes the need for steel fabric
No need to stock piles of steel fabric on-site
No need to place steel fabric, saving on man hours
Availability of Topforce
All Topforce products are readily available across the mainland UK from Tarmac’s network of ready mixed concrete plants. The concrete is delivered to site in ready mixed concrete trucks at a consistence suitable for the application.
